Salveo Solutions offer a fast and competitive service for all your Domestic and Commercial Part L1A Building Regulation air permeability tightness pressure testing compliance requirements. We carry out air permeability/tightness pressure on all residential building types from small single flats, to detached houses and multi-dwelling developments throughout the South
Following recent changes to Part L of the Building Regulations, all new build residential developments will require air permeability tightness pressure testing.
Air permeability tightness pressure testing is a method of measuring and quantifying the air leakage of a building. Too much air leakage leads to heat loss resulting in higher C02 emissions. Reducing C02 emissions is the purpose of ‘Part L’ of the new building regulations through air tightness testing, air leakage testing and air permeability testing. Testing the air tightness of existing dwellings can highlight areas of problems that can be treated cost effectively to improve the energy efficiency of the dwelling as a whole.
Air pressure testing of a proportion of all new domestic housing is a legal requirement in accordance with the guidance given in Part L1A – Conservation of fuel and power in new dwellings of the Building Regulations. In addition, testing the air tightness of existing dwellings can highlight areas of problems that can be treated cost effectively to improve the energy efficiency of the dwelling as a whole.
Air leakage is measured by using a fan pressurisation system. Simply put this is where a fan is installed in a doorway, all external openings are closed and all internal openings are left open. Once the fan has pressurised the inside of the building the pressure difference is measured and compared to the external ambient conditions. The test is performed by recording a range of readings, including air pressure, within the dwelling and corresponding airflow through the fan to maintain that pressure.
All our Air Permeability Tightness Pressure Testing are carried out in accordance with ATTMA (Air Tightness Testing and Measuring Association) TS1 Issue 2 to BS EN 13829 method B standards, and all our test engineers are trained and accredited members of the BINDT (British Institute of Non Destructive Testing).
We aim to provide a competitve quotation to your enquires within 72 hours and can usually schedule site visits to suit your needs.
